The Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde
Symbol of the city, the basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde overlooks the city of Marseille and watches over all the inhabitants of the city. Its position at the top of the hill of the Garde (154 m) offers a unique panorama on the city of Marseille, its hinterland and the Mediterranean. The basilica is the most visited monument of the city. Not to be missed if you discover Marseille.

The Palais Longchamp
The Palais Longchamps and its magnificent park is also a must-see if you visit Marseille. The Palais Longchamps is in fact a former water tower that was used to bring water from the Durance to Marseille. The Palace is decorated with many sculptures and highlights art in the Fine Arts Museum. You can also find the Natural History Museum within it. The Park, very popular with the people of Marseille, used to be home to the Marseille Zoo.
The Vieux-Port
Another unavoidable symbol of the city, the Old Port of Marseille is located at the bottom of the famous Canebière. An important place for the city, there is no lack of activities. You will be able to observe the work of the fishermen who leave for the sea, or simply walk along the quays and admire the numerous pleasure boats. The Vieux-Port is above all the popular gathering place of the Marseillais (especially after a nice victory of the OM!!)

The Mucem
Located at the entrance of the Old Port, the Mucem is the acronym of the Museum of Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean. This museum is particularly dedicated to the history of Mediterranean civilizations. The Mucem is the most visited museum in the city of Marseille. This museum is in fact composed of three places: the esplanade of the J4, the Fort Saint-Jean and the Center of conservation and resource.
The Cosquer cave
The Cosquer cave was discovered in the middle of the 80’s by the diver Henri Cosquer off the coast of the Calanques of Marseille at a depth of 36 meters. This cave turns out to contain numerous rock artworks engraved or painted on the rock (many animals are represented). Unfortunately, with the rise of water, this cave is doomed to disappear. That is why a replica was built according to the same process as the Chauvet cave in the Villa Méditerranée, on the esplanade of the J4. This replica opened its doors in June 2022.
